艾伦·谢帕德（Alan Shepard）（1923.11.18 – 1998.7.21），美国法拉古特学校新泽西校区1941届毕业生，美国海军少将，是美国历史上第一个进入太空的宇航员。
1971年，谢帕德作为阿波罗14号登月计划的成员，成为人类历史上第5个登上月球的人，同时也是登月时年龄最大（47岁）的宇航员。
谢帕德还是第一个在月球表面（也是在太空中）打过高尔夫球的人类。

In the spring of 2006, NASA gave a piece of moon rock as a present to Mr. Charles Duke , Who later donated to his beloved school Admiral Farragut Academy. The moon rock is now displayed in a showcase at the entrance of the main building in AFA St. Petersburg campus.

1971年，一位47岁的大叔在月球表面上挥杆4次、打了2个高尔夫球。
A 47-year-old man took four swings and played two rounds of golf on the moon, in the year of 1971.
这位大叔就是美国充满传奇色彩的宇航员,也是执行阿波罗14号计划的成员之一,艾伦·谢帕德（Alan Shepard）。

Shepard had served in US Navy during World War II。 He was selected as one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts in 1959。 2 years after, he became the first American to go into space。
1970年阿波罗13号登月计划出现事故，1971年阿波罗14号复启后，履历资深的谢帕德颇临危受命，成为登月任务的指令长。当时他已经47岁“高龄”，是有史以来登月年龄最大的人。
After the accident on the Apollo 13 in 1970, as an experienced astronaut, Shepard became the commander to resume the mission of Apollo 14 in 1971, at his age of 47, he was the oldest man ever to walk on the moon.

Before the departure, Sheppard suggested the idea of playing golf on the moon to get samples of lunar dust by swinging golf club.
NASA officials agreed that it was an interesting idea that would promote momentum for the moon landing and leave a legacy for future generations at same time.
1971年2月6日，登月后的第二天，这位47岁的大叔开始第二次月面行走。他开始按照预定想法和计划，带上自己的球杆 —— 一支可折叠的6号铁杆，掏出了两个高尔夫球。

On February 6, 1971, the day after landing on the moon, the 47-year-old man began his second walk, as planned, he took his club — a collapsible 6-iron — and two golf balls with him。
After several adjustments, Sheppard finally hit the ball out.
Watching the golf ball drifting far away after his swing, he said the famous quote:” Miles and miles and miles”
“Miles and miles and miles.”
他看着高尔夫球在空中足足飞了35秒，然后在大概有300米远的地方着陆。后来NASA还为此事出了月球高尔夫的周边产品。
He watched the golf ball drifting through the air for 35 seconds before it landed about 300 meters away.
Later on, NASA even developed lunar golf related products to commemorate this signature move。
最终,那两颗击打出的高尔夫球被永远留在了月球上,而可折叠的6号球杆被带回了地球,被捐给了USGA(美国高尔夫球协会),如今被收藏在USGA博物馆。
The 2 golf balls were left there on the moon, and the collapsible 6-iron club was brought back to the Earth and donated to the USGA。 The club is now in USGA museum for exhibition。
USGA前CEO大卫·费伊曾说：“如果博物馆失火,我肯定会第一时间去夺救这根太空球杆。它证明了一件事——高尔夫是人类在月球上唯一从事过的体育运动。”
The former CEO David B Fay once said: “if the museum were to catch fire one day, I would be the first to run into the fire and save the club because it is the proof that golf is the only sport that mankind has ever played on the moon”
